GREEN ACRES VILLAGE: We Prepare for the Return of Community Dinners!

And it’s about time! Mid-March last year, our regular Community Dinners, like clockwork every Thursday evening for years, and so, totally taken for granted, came to a sudden, grinding halt.  As did so many other social/cultural traditions and structures, both visible and invisible.

After a month’s hiatus, we came back, and with a vengeance, showing off our new outdoor kitchen! Here it is, ready for our second August community dinner this Thursday, two days hence. Notice the cloth covers — over the dishes and silverware, which we can now leave outside, with folks cleaning their own dishes immediately

Green Acres Village: Dinner Outside on Patio, not once but twice!

— which, in this unusual spring of intermittent rain, was a big gamble, especially last night, when a few drops did fall, and we covered the food for a few minutes. Actually, I’m getting bored with posting pics after each Thursday Community Dinner. At least as is. Maybe I should spice it up…

Though it wasn’t raining, the patio and furniture were still wet, so we met inside the Overhill house, at least 18 of us, not sure, some were going in and out of oohing and aahing at the new chicks who are much larger and safely into a larger cage in the greenhouse for now. Read more…
