Google, UChicago Sued In “Greatest Heist” Of Patient Health Data “In History” | Zero Hedge

The suit alleges that the university deceived its patients by telling them that their medical records would be protected, but ultimately violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a federal law that ensures privacy and security for personal medical data. It also claims that UChicago violated state laws in Illinois that makes it illegal for companies to participate in dishonest client practices. The complaint details Google’s alleged two-part plan: obtain the Electronic Health Record (EHR) of almost every patient at the UChicago Medical Center, then use the information to create its own lucrative commercial EHR system.

US Retailers With $1.5 Trillion In Sales Demand An Antitrust Probe Of Amazon And Google | Zero Hedge

RILA also raised concerns about how Amazon and Google support their products over other retailers on their platforms, collect data about competitors, and support the spread of counterfeit goods. It should be “quite concerning to the commission that Amazon and Google control the majority of all internet product search, and can very easily affect whether and how price and product information reaches consumers,” the trade group wrote.

The Trump administration has recently increased antitrust scrutiny of Amazon and Google could have a significant impact on the sector, even if charges are not brought.

FTC has claimed oversight of probes of Facebook and Amazon, while the DOJ will examine Google and Apple. Separately, the House Judiciary’s antitrust subcommittee started an antitrust investigation into the technology industry last month.

Last Thursday saw the weather turn brisk for June. After several thunderstorms rolled through it felt more like early spring or fall! I walked 1.4 miles to get to Green Acres for that morning’s work party and enjoyed the smells on the air that reminded me of my grandmother’s home in the Appalachian hills of Virginia.

So you wanna establish a bucolic urban farm in the midwest?

Well, you might think again. It’s not all roses. In fact, these past few days remind me very much of what we’re all going through who have planets in the 18-23° area of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, now activated, big time, by transit Mars in Cancer opposing transit Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn. Wheeee!

Paul Manafort Seemed Headed to Rikers. Then the Justice Department Intervened. – The New York Times

Paul J. Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman who is serving a federal prison sentence, had been expected to be transferred to the notorious Rikers Island jail complex this month to await trial on a separate state case.

But last week, Manhattan prosecutors were surprised to receive a letter from the second-highest law enforcement official in the country inquiring about Mr. Manafort’s case. The letter, from Jeffrey A. Rosen, Attorney General William P. Barr’s new top deputy, indicated that he was monitoring where Mr. Manafort would be held in New York.

And then, on Monday, federal prison officials weighed in, telling the Manhattan district attorney’s office that Mr. Manafort, 70, would not be going to Rikers.

Instead, he will await his trial at a federal lockup in Manhattan or at the Pennsylvania federal prison where he is serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for wide-ranging financial schemes, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
