RAY McGOVERN: A Non-Hack That Raised Hillary’s Hackles – Consortiumnews

Three years ago Monday WikiLeaks published a trove of highly embarrassing emails that had been leaked from inside the Democratic National Committee. As has been the case with every leak revealed by WikiLeaks, the emails were authentic. These particular ones, however, could not have come at a worse time for top Democratic Party officials.

The emails made it unmistakably clear that the DNC had tipped the scales sharply against Democratic insurgent Bernie Sanders, giving him a snowball’s chance in hell for the nomination. The posting of the DNC emails is also widely seen as having harmed the the electoral prospects of Hillary Clinton, who could not escape responsibility completely, while a handful of the very top DNC officials were forced to immediately resign.

Relatively few Americans read the actual emails, their attention diverted to the incessant media-fostered question: Why Did the Russians Hack the DNC to Hurt Hillary? For the millions of once enthusiastic Democrats who favored Sanders, however, the disclosure that the nomination process had been fixed came as a bitter pill, leaving a sour taste in their mouths and a passive-aggressive reluctance to promote the candidacy of one they considered a usurper. Having had a huge stake in Bernie’s candidacy, they had little trouble seeing through the diversion of attention from the content of the emails.

Irish Journalist McKee, Julian Assange and the Pathetic Pulitzers — Strategic Culture

The most promising, talented and fearless young independent Irish journalist of her generation was gunned down at age 29 by two bullets while covering a very minor and typical riot in Derry City on April 18. A couple of dim and drunken young Irish Republican extremist suspects who could not have hit a barn door at point blank range were also immediately rounded up and accused of her murder.

Of all the shots supposedly randomly fired into the crowd that night, the only person to be hit – twice – was the most important and incorruptible investigative reporter in Ireland.

ASSANGE EXTRADITION? Our Moment of Truth Looms Just Ahead —

If Julian Assange is extradited to this country and treated like a common criminal — or worse, then no matter what else Donald Trump (with the Q team) is doing to gain my and others’ trust, this will be a deal breaker. Alternatively, if Assange is treated as a star witness for the prosecution of…

Today’s Winner In Asinine News: Men with beards carry more germs than dogs, study finds | abc7chicago.com

This Swiss study started making the rounds from the BBC recently and it’s spreading like a brush fire across US media, including local stations.

Golly gee, who has a beard that is being mocked in the UK right now?

Equating men with beards as dirty dogs…yeah, that’s REAL mature.

And wouldn’t you know it, both clean-shaven, conservative AND liberal pundits are running with this story as if it’s ‘real news’ and likely pissing off a good portion of male followers who enjoy sporting chin-whiskers. I’m tired of people being pissed off about trivialities and not war crimes, frankly. This should be laughed off as propaganda – like when we were told real butter was bad for you! Silly Swiss Scientists…

[Revision] More Than a Data Dump | Harper’s Magazine – Update

Last fall, a court filing in the Eastern District of Virginia inadvertently suggested that the Justice Department had indicted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and other outlets reported soon after that Assange had likely been secretly indicted for conspiring with his sources to publish classified government material and hacked documents belonging to the Democratic National Committee, among other things.
