Paul Manafort Seemed Headed to Rikers. Then the Justice Department Intervened. – The New York Times

Paul J. Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman who is serving a federal prison sentence, had been expected to be transferred to the notorious Rikers Island jail complex this month to await trial on a separate state case.

But last week, Manhattan prosecutors were surprised to receive a letter from the second-highest law enforcement official in the country inquiring about Mr. Manafort’s case. The letter, from Jeffrey A. Rosen, Attorney General William P. Barr’s new top deputy, indicated that he was monitoring where Mr. Manafort would be held in New York.

And then, on Monday, federal prison officials weighed in, telling the Manhattan district attorney’s office that Mr. Manafort, 70, would not be going to Rikers.

Instead, he will await his trial at a federal lockup in Manhattan or at the Pennsylvania federal prison where he is serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for wide-ranging financial schemes, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Chris Hedges – Live in Los Angeles / Part One

A film by Michael Sosebee

submitted by Gabrielle Price

On June 28, 2012 Chris Hedges gave an historic talk to a sold-out audience at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, in Los Angeles, California.  In part one, Chris begins by discussing his father’s impact on his career and integrity, then on to speak about the populist movements and writing of early journalists, propaganda and how it has historically seduced the public into war in the US.  He explains how this led to the decline of the liberal class and the birth of consumerism.

The World Tomorrow / Episode One

submitted by Gabrielle Price

Before you watch this first installment of RT’s The World Tomorrow with Julian Assange, I would like to share with all our readers – globally – what the response was to this show with the following excerpt by one of the largest US [and once esteemed] publications:

It’s like the Voice of America, only with more money and a zesty anti-American slant.  A few correspondents can sound at times like Boris and Natasha of “Rocky & Bullwinkle” fame.  Basically, it’s an improbable platform for a man who poses as a radical left-wing whistleblower and free-speech frondeur battling the superpowers that be.”  Feel free to read the rest of NYT’s drivel here.

For the savvy TRC readers who know that NYT is a US propaganda rag – we present the first episode of Julian Assange’s “The World Tomorrow” – in hopes of a better one.  As for us in US independent and citizen media: please know that the work you do is worth 10 NYTimes, now that it has behaved like a butthurt crybaby for the world to see.  It is losing it’s credibility – like Hillary Clinton and the US ’war on information’.

[Coincidentally, RT was one of several outlets on Hillary’s blacklist.  I’m doubly pleased to share it.]

Just like banned books – the best and most enlightening information is always banned information.  The US media being butthurt is just the bonus.  We’ll continue to share the best alternative news sources we can find at TRC because the people deserve better.  WE deserve choices, not a corporate cacophony of squawking parrots and their plastic info bimbos.
